Monsters
03:38
|
|||
The clock ticks round, the seconds crawl
The weeks ahead loom like monsters
Just around the bend they lie in wait, to seal our fate
For all the time that is to come
And I beg them all to leave
I pass around the heady hope of starting over
How I beg them all to leave, to leave without a trace
To come undone
Sometimes when they call me
Batten down the hatches, stay low
Flat on the ground I listen to the sound
Of their footsteps departing
But an echo still remains, I know it fades
But for now it won’t stop tapping on my window pane
Firing on the switchboard, must be tiring of them same old chords
They’re tapping on my window pane
I’m in their lair, showdown in my hand
Creeping corners call in foreign tongues
Tunnel turnings in the dark, is that the glow of candlelight
Is this even my dream
Come tie a rope around my waist and push me in
Whisper words that mend
Sing softly lilting lullabies and sweet little lies
And paint a cushion for my pride

Free ride
05:47
|
|||
Where do you keep the vials
For when you’re all used up
I am a daylight vampire
I need your blood
Derelict conductor and the strings are slack
The teacher faces the wall
Outside the circle still it’s swimming past
Peep show crack in the door
And won’t you please lift me free...
I left my shadow behind
Calling out into the night
I took a free ride to get me there
To break the barrier and feel the air
I took a free ride to get me there
The last skin is the hardest to shed
The sky doesn’t cry
And the trees don’t groan
The earth is cold and hard
There’s no one home
But for the creatures clawing at my feet
You know I’d be a million miles from here
They got me on my knees and I can’t break free
They’re trading knives and plates for zero gravity
And won’t you please lift me free...
I left my shadow behind
Calling out into the night
I took a free ride to get me there
To break the barrier and feel the air
I took a free ride to get me there
The last skin is the hardest to shed

Arrival
04:19
|
|||
A trickle turned into a stream when I closed my eyes
Spilling over the sides and I can’t rewind
I slipped and stumbled, and I scraped the shore
This coast calls you who fail a true course
I fell in with the beat of the winds
Retrograde shuffle, all made to fit
Before I could speak I called your name
Doors opened off, I called your name
Scratching at knots I’d put in place
The passage complete, all made to fit
Under the aegis of stars in their systems
Dust motes colluded, laid down the conditions
Walls when to waver, the moment to give
All orchestrated, all made to fit

Departure
04:31
|
|||
Lines leap unbroken, latent trace of bedlam
Time warps and contracts, he leaves not a trace
Toes turn right angles, 180s and circles
VIP whirlpools urged on to the end
Where are we going
This runaway train armed with cataclysmic brakes
This belt isn’t safe
What rising star to stand on our shoulders,
vindicate these boulders prescribing our place
On a funeral pyre
I release thee
Flesh and fire synergy splits the sky
Sweep the veil from your eyes
And I’m lifting
And go to the mourning fields

Sleepwalker
06:13
|
|||
Sleepwalker, sleepwalker don’t heed the call
Hold the wool over your eyes, a slip chain on heretic thoughts
Anchored in the bay, she gave you shelter from the storm
Slipped your mooring and set a new course
Dawn’s fingers crept from your hair to the ground,
and danced upon your eyelids
The morning bore down
The earth became cold, the soft light untangled
the knots of the night and the notes of the angels
Sleepwalker, sleepwalker you dared say the words
A stitch in time..
You wrote your own curse
And you threw it out wildly in the hope it would return,
but it lodged inside her breast and grew seven spurs
The city heard your cries and it swallowed them whole
The streets rang the next day, a warning for all
On the third day it was silent
The silence of the wind down the tracks past the platform,
blankets on the ground
How do I tie the threads into a circle
How do I bind the end the bind the...
As you woke the cost grew, an eclipse of the mind
The bridge had grown thin cause we’d walked it all night
And the night had spanned ages but it still came up short
Brief kiss of the tangent and spinning apart
Sleepwalker, sleepwalker I had little hope
Every hour I could steal by the throne was well bought
To flash before my eyes, leave traces on my skin
Feed the conflagration, seeds for the spring

Freewheeling
07:02
|
|||
These lines are blocked
Omnidread clot
There’s something in the water
The air’s too thin
Unchained wheel
Spokes coming round and again
Freewheeling down a hill to the end
Comes up sharp
How did I come here
There’s a black spot between my eyes
I can’t deduce the law
Won’t connect
Blessed are the tired
They shall inherit the night
Beyond the glare branches brush by
Blunt and blind
When I’m delivered
Snow drifts down
Four winds around me
Still the snow drifts down
A change in the season
Let it all fall down
I’ve sold off my reasons
Let it all fall down
Cars drive by, the children run and play
Revealed it’s just an average day
A silver sky to paint the ground
A silver sky to lay me down

Reporting
06:47
|
|||
I don’t have the right to this song
It should’ve been another man’s before
The sun rose and set in one
A sallow strain in daybreak’s hum
But to the fall I was deaf and dumb
The thread rubs when the mood sets in
Burrs attach where I can’t reach
And as I sift the takings through
Is a retraction my only due
I call the fire, you brought the wood
But I don’t mind, I’m just sitting here reporting
For some peace of mind, but this pen keeps on dripping
Bubbles bursting foreign scenes
Lay bare all the hidden things
I was swept up in a passing dream
How long till it strikes up again
Fostered fibres of a stolen morning
Under days and over oceans
Weave your tangle thread to cross
Stay our hands and stay our thoughts
We’re all made of stars until we fall short
But I don’t mind
I’m just sitting here reporting
For some peace of mind
But this pen keeps on dripping
Bubbles bursting foreign scenes
Lay bare all the hidden things
I was swept up in a passing dream
How long till it strikes up again
But I can’t feel this way for long
I’ve been turning over rocks
My skin is rough but my blood’s the same
I thought I’d defected in the fray
Lined up I can’t fire, but I know when to stay
But don’t you mind, they’re just scars come up swollen
And my peace of mind trails them over the mountains

Pressed
04:40
|
|||
Pick the locks my dear
Scratch them till they bleed
Just don’t stand there in the doorway
Our pulse to falter on the brink
Maybe I’ve got cat’s eyes
I’m just waiting for the night
Else I’ve seen the water drawing
And I can’t turn my head aside
I’m pressed
I’m pressed
By the marching of the seasons
Blood to bind in reasons
I’m pressed
I’m pressed
By this flat parade of scriptures
Horizons shimmering
Throw plumes up to the sky
We celebrate tonight
A laid out Archimedean star
To give this land no more its light
I’m pressed
I’m pressed
By the marching of the seasons
Blood to bind in reasons
I’m pressed
I’m pressed
By this flat parade of scriptures
Horizons shimmering
